The Christmas season is in full flow and I’ve been suffering from the added stress for some days now. I try desperately to enjoy Christmas, but each year I seem to find myself simply too overwhelmed by all the present lists and to-do lists and food lists to be able to get into the festive mood as much as I would like.
Finally, however, I’ve reached a point where I can breathe again!
It’s December 13th. We finished our last two items on the homeschool curriculum this morning, so we’re officially done! The Christmas cards have all been written and most of them sent out. The presents are well under control. I haven’t started thinking about food yet, but there’s still plenty of time.
This afternoon I added over 2,000 words to my work-in-progress in the coffee shop. They were just flowing! I was so excited to finally get back into writing again. I’d missed it, not being able to keep up with my daily word count for the last couple of weeks.
You know you’re a writer when you feel irritable and incomplete if you haven’t been writing!
You know you’re a writer when a good writing afternoon sets your spirits soaring and sets a smile on your face!
I’m still hoping to finish my first draft by the end of the year, so I’ll keep pushing on for now, in between the mulled wine and the mince pies and the dulcit tones of Michael Bublé wafting from the CD player!
Happy Christmas everyone!
